The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Mark Haddon

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is an interesting and compelling mystery novel written by Mark Haddon. Christopher Boone, the main character, is 15 years old and has autism. He detests the colors yellow and brown, can not understand human emotions and groans when he does not get his way. He is a mathematical genius, and even numbers all the chapters of the book he is writing with prime numbers. When he finds out his neighbors dog was murdered he goes on a quest to find the murderer. He learns that the murderer is who he least thought it would be, and that there is another story behind it.
Mark Haddon makes you see life through an autistic person eyes by having the main character tell the story.
“The policeman took hold of my arm and lifted me onto my feet. I didn’t like him touching me like this. And this is when I hit him.”
The book switches off between telling the story of the mystery of the dog and Christopher revealing something about himself. This book is so well written that I almost believed Christopher Boone was the author. It is a great read and I suggest it to anyone who likes mystery novels or wants to learn more about autism.
