Fat Kid Rules the World is another book by K.L Going. Meet 300 pound, six-foot, 17 year old Troy Billings. Troy Billings has no friends, has no mother and has problems with his family. But one day at the train station Troy is standing on the sidelines thinking seriously about suicide when he meets Curt MacCrae.

Curt MacCrae just happens to be a guitar genius at Troy’s high school in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Curt somehow convinces Troy to take him out for lunch. But after a meal with Curt, Troy somehow joined Curt’s band, Rage/Tectonics, to play the drums. But the only thing is Troy hasn’t played the drums since the seventh grade. Soon after, Curt starts setting up gigs for them to play at a place called The Dump. Troy confesses to Curt that he cannot play the drums but Curt doesn’t care. Soon Troy is getting drumming lessons from Smack Metal Puppets’ Ollie Oliver. With there first gig in a few weeks can troy and Curt become a rock band recorded in history? But then Curt overdoses on drug-use and is sent to the hospital.
